With the Zinc Die Cast Award, Initiative Zink aims to demonstrate the strengths of the zinc die casting process and the performance of the participating foundries in six categories. In the field of sanitary technology, high demands are placed on the surface appearance, resistance and dimensional stability and feel of the assemblies. HDO Druckguss- und Oberflächentechnik has succeeded in implementing these design parameters with the shell of the Rainfinity overhead shower. The casting impresses with its combination of size, precision, thin wall, haptics and visual appearance. According to Initiative Zink, the challenge of filling the casting tool was excellently solved.
The exact rounding of the mantle of the head shower plays an important role. In the foundry, the component is cast on as uniformly as possible over almost the entire inner surface by means of a center sprue. In the subsequent grinding and polishing processes, special clamping devices are used to prevent stresses from arising due to production-related temperature fluctuations. This ensures the perfect rounding of the thin-walled component. All components are then bright chrome electroplated on special racks.
