According to the German Steel and Metal Processing Industry Association (WSM), the parties' 2025 election manifestos identify the problems facing companies, but there are "no solutions in sight". In order to secure prosperity and jobs, the parties need to step up their game.

The initial conclusion of the German Steel and Metal Processing Industry Association (WSM) on the parties' election manifestos is critical:"All parties fail to recognize the seriousness of the situation," says WSM Managing Director Christian Vietmeyer. The CDU/CSU, SPD, FDP and the Greens have this in common. "The politicians certainly see the problems, but they don't offer any real solutions," says Vietmeyer.

Appeal to the parties

There is a lack of concrete ideas that could save Germany as an endangered production location. Vietmeyer believes that the next German government could change the fate of the traditional medium-sized steel and metal processing industries. His appeal to the parties is therefore: "Step up and deliver solutions - to safeguard prosperity and jobs!"
