First, a visual inspection of the profiles was carried out on site. In this way, no defects could be detected. Furthermore, coating thickness measurements were carried out at various positions of the profiles. It must be noted here that the coating thickness gauge is calibrated and "zeroed" before the measurements on an uncoated profile.
If the zeroing is carried out on another workpiece or, in the worst case, on the calibration plates supplied, considerable measuring errors may occur. According to the paint manufacturer's technical data sheets, the total thickness of the two coatings had to be at least 120µm.
