After more than a decade at the helm of the specialist group, Frank Gläser (Weilburger/Kansai Helios) will step down as Chairman at the end of the year. He had led the Industrial Coatings specialist group since 2013. Gläser will remain with the association and will continue to play an active role on the board of the specialist group and the VdL executive committee. The members thanked him for his many years of commitment at the meeting in Frankfurt am Main.
The specialist group elected the previous deputy chairman Ludwig Haring from Dr. Demuth Derisol Lackfarben GmbH as the new chairman. Christian Schilling (Geolith und Wiemer) and Rolf Dürschmidt from Feycolor GmbH were confirmed on the board.
Expansion of the Executive Board
To further strengthen the content of the specialist group's work, two additional members were appointed to the Executive Board. The new members are Dr. Gudrun Schopf from Brocolor Lackfabrik GmbH and Dr. Marcel Roth from Dörken GmbH. Roth gave a presentation at the meeting entitled "Success Factors of R&D in Risky Times - How Resilience and Strategy Drive Innovation", from which the motif for the specialist group's group photo was taken.
At its autumn meeting, the Industrial Coatings specialist group, which is part of the Association of the German Paint and Printing Ink Industry (VdL), also dealt intensively with current technical and organizational topics. The agenda included regulatory issues, the economic situation in the industry and the status of the development of the association's EPD. In addition, tax law developments in connection with the so-called innovation booster and success factors in research and development were discussed.
