The Verband der deutschen Lack- und Druckfarbenindustrie e.V. (VdL) celebrated its 125th anniversary with the annual general meeting, a festive evening and many guests.

The self-organization of the German coatings industry was founded in Berlin in 1900. This first association in the industry quickly established itself as a platform for opinion-forming and self-administration in this medium-sized industry.

Anniversary event lasting several days

The 200 or so member companies have now come together for a multi-day anniversary event in the center of Berlin. The festivities began on May 22 with a meeting of several committees and specialist groups from the architectural coatings, industrial coatings, wood coatings and printing inks segments. The celebrations continued in the evening with a banquet for invited guests, followed by the members' meeting on May 23.

Cooperation important in difficult times

VdL President Dr. Harald Borgholte welcomed around 180 participants from 72 member companies as well as guests from Germany and other European countries and from friendly associations. In his speech, Borgholte emphasized how important it is to work together as an association in difficult times: "We have the feeling that we are going from one crisis to another. And in this situation, the German coatings and printing ink industry has proven its great resilience." Especially now, the commitment of the member companies and their employees in the association's committees is crucial.
