Taniobis strengthens production network and invests in future technologies

Taniobis is realigning its production with a comprehensive transformation program and targeted investments in artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing.

The company aims to network its plants more closely, pool the supply of raw materials and expand its position as a supplier of high-performance tantalum and niobium materials. These materials are key components of modern electronics and aerospace technologies and contribute to greater energy efficiency and power density.

The demand for tantalum is increasing, particularly due to applications in the field of artificial intelligence. Processors and data centers have to cope with growing energy requirements - tantalum capacitors with high energy density, thermal stability and low energy loss play a key role here. Taniobis is also active in semiconductor production: high-purity molybdenum and tungsten chlorides from the Goslar and Laufenburg plants are used for coating ultra-fine conductor paths in modern chips.

Materials development for electronics and aerospace

In addition to high-performance chemical materials, Taniobis produces powders for 3D printing, which are primarily used in the aerospace industry. The alloys used withstand temperatures of over 1,600 °C and are suitable for highly stressed industrial applications. The company relies on two technologies for the production of capacitor powders: Sodium reduction provides powders with good flow properties for low to medium voltage applications, while the magnesium reduction developed in Goslar enables a finer pore structure and higher capacities. This allows powders to be produced specifically for AI servers and edge computing devices.

Global structure for greater efficiency

At the same time, Taniobis is optimizing its production structure and expanding capacity at the Map Ta Phut site (Thailand). The plants are to become more specialized in the future in order to make production and product development more efficient. "By closely integrating our sites, we are increasing production flexibility and can react more quickly to market requirements," says Masafumi Ishii, CEO of Taniobis.
