Peters developed this silicone material together with Novagard Solutions Inc, Cleveland, Ohio. The result was Elpeguard UV Twin-Cure DSL 1707 NV-FLZ. According to the company, climatic stability and flame resistance in accordance with customer specifications were the most important requirements when developing the new product. The coating was certified to UL 746E following a series of tests. It withstands sudden current surges and retains its dielectric integrity, providing optimum protection for the coated assemblies.
A new feature of this product range is that the silicone-based coating can be sprayed and is therefore suitable for surface coating. It can be used to apply a thin and durable spray coating to assembled PCBs. The new silicone protective lacquer is also particularly suitable for high-temperature applications. The silicone remains permanently elastic and also allows selectively higher coating thicknesses without compromising on quality and properties.
