The insulating coating of prismatic battery cells for e-mobility can now be measured with µ precision. The new 3D system from Coatmaster is based on ATO technology.

Coatmaster AG has introduced a solution for the accurate measurement of coating thickness. A key component of prismatic battery cells, essential to the e-mobility industry, is an insulating coating whose minimum thickness is critical to maintaining electrical isolation. Accurately measuring and ensuring the minimum thickness, especially at the cell edges, is difficult. In addition, there are various factors such as viscosity, surface tension, curing behavior, edge curvature and the spatial spray pattern of the paint gun.

Coatmaster 3D uses advanced ATO technology to provide spatial measurement of coating thickness across all side surfaces and edges in fractions of a second, ensuring uniform thickness throughout the cell. "Coatmaster 3D significantly improves not only efficiency and quality control, but also the safety and reliability of e-mobility solutions," says Andor Bariska, co-CEO of Coatmaster AG.
