The new set for surface roughness testing promises easy handling and precise results. The tapes are now individually packaged in strips.

US metrology specialist DeFelsko has launched a set for roughness testing of blasted surfaces in accordance with ISO 8503-5. Measuring surface profiles using Testex Replica Tapes is now easier and more precise. The tapes are individually packed in strips instead of being wound on rolls as before. This makes them easier to use.

Replica of the surface profile

The Testex Replica Tape creates a replication - i.e. an absolutely identical reproduction - of the surface profile. This can then be measured with the micrometer included in the set to determine the surface profile.

Newly developed pressing tool

The contact pressure tool has also been completely redeveloped. It significantly improves the measuring process. The design includes a ball that rests spring-loaded in a plastic cup. This means that the same pressure is always applied to the test film strip when it is pressed on. The effect: the measurements deliver absolutely precise results throughout, regardless of the individual pressure applied by the user.

From analog to digital

As the central component of the set, the digital micrometer replaces the previous analog device. The new model provides the necessary connectivity for transferring and processing the measured data. The digital micrometer has been designed for robustness and durability. The device has a bright, high-contrast color display with large digits that are easy to read even in dark surroundings and a USB interface. The integrated memory offers space for up to 250 measured values including graphical representation on the display.
