A new addition is a specially manufactured flood protection trailer with the pumping capacity of three to four fire department units. It is also available to fire departments from the region. Richard Geiss GmbH has invested around 100,000 euros in this special design. As part of the flood protection measures, the solvent specialist will also be constructing an equipment shed measuring around 100 square meters on its company premises.
Protection against future flooding
"We are located directly on the Mindel. If we hadn't had a powerful large pump from the Kempten fire department last summer, we would probably have been completely flooded. It was immediately clear to me that we had to be better prepared in future," says Bastian Geiss, Managing Partner of Richard Geiss GmbH. Therefore, not only was a comprehensive flood protection concept commissioned, but also a flood protection trailer.
Trailer replaces three fire department units
The flood protection trailer is equipped with six high-performance pumps and offers a total output of 8,600 liters per minute. This corresponds to the pumping capacity of three to four fire department units. The pumps are two Spechtenhauser Chiemsee A flood protection pumps with a pumping capacity of 2,500 liters per minute, two Spechtenhauser Mini-Chiemsee B flood protection pumps with a pumping capacity of 1,500 liters per minute and two Spechtenhauser X 300 waste water pumps with a pumping capacity of 300 liters per minute.
