As a company in the chemical industry, Peters handles highly flammable substances. Therefore, the company attaches great importance to training its employees in fire protection. "In addition to preventive fire protection, fire protection and evacuation assistants take initial measures in the event of an emergency, such as extinguishing fires, assigning escape routes and supporting the employer in firefighting to the best of their ability," said Helmut Schrangs, the responsible instructor from the Krefeld-based company Hauser Sicherheitstechnik GmbH, at the start of the training course.
Employees from the warehouse, laboratory, production and administration took part in the training. The one-day training course is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The course provided the technical employee and the helper team with knowledge and also brought new insights. The course to become a fire protection helper is not a technical firefighting training, "but we feel equipped for emergencies," said one of the participants. "It's an additional qualification that can definitely become useful in other areas of life," says production employee Mustafa Tasdemirli. The one-day training is to be repeated for the team of helpers at intervals of three to five years.
