Swedish national Fredrik Westin will take over the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Akzo Nobel on January 1, 2026. He succeeds Maarten de Vries, who will step down as planned in April 2026 after his second four-year term as CFO and member of the Board of Management. The handover will take place as part of a structured succession process.
Experience as Chief Financial Officer
Fredrik Westin has more than 25 years of international experience in industry and the automotive sector. Since May 2020, he has been CFO and Executive Vice President at Autoliv, a provider of vehicle safety technology with listings in the USA and Europe. Previously, he held CFO positions at Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology and Johnson Controls.
Transformation to a data-driven coating company
According to CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume, Maarten de Vries has played a decisive role in the realignment of Akzo Nobel into a focused and data-driven paints and coatings company. He is the right successor to continue this development. Westin said he was honored to join Akzo Nobel and looks forward to driving the transformation with the leadership team.
His appointment to the Akzo Nobel Board of Management is subject to shareholder approval. Maarten de Vries will remain a member of the Board until the end of his term in April 2026 to ensure a smooth handover.
