At the Battery Show Europe from June 3 to 5 in Stuttgart, Bodo Möller Chemie will be presenting adhesives and sealants for electromobility as well as structural polyurethane foams for battery applications. As a technical solution provider, the company supplies manufacturers along the automotive value chain with high-performance adhesives and sealants, thermally conductive materials and, more recently, polyurethane foams. "The requirements for materials in e-mobility are constantly increasing. In addition to thermal conductivity and structural strength, sustainability and recyclability are also increasingly in demand," says Dr. Christoph Schnöll, Vice President of Technology at Bodo Möller Chemie.
Bonding battery cells, modules and housings
Special adhesives play a central role in the battery environment: they securely connect cells, modules and housings and contribute to performance and service life through targeted heat dissipation. In addition, sealants and potting compounds are used to protect sensitive components from environmental influences.
PU foams for improved stability
Structural PU foams can be used as cell separators or to produce sandwich structures in battery housings. Despite their low weight, they give the battery system high mechanical strength and improve crash stability - a crucial safety aspect in the event of an accident. In addition, the foams have a temperature-insulating effect, which is particularly important at low outside temperatures, and help to reduce vibrations. The company's experts translate chemical properties into technical design data, enabling efficient solutions.
Debonding on demand
Another future topic is "debonding on demand". With the help of a special primer, structural adhesive bonds can be released virtually at the touch of a button. This could be a step towards a circular economy and sustainable repair concepts.
