Micro-Epsilon's capacitive sensors feature a novel sensor design, extensive accessories and powerful multi-channel systems. They provide sub-micron accurate values even in industrial environments. Their linearity, reproducibility and resolution are also high. Without calibration effort, the capacitive sensors can be combined with any controller.
For thickness measurement of battery foils, the sensors are integrated into the production line. Attached to a measuring bracket, the sensors measure against the strip from two sides. Each of the two capacitive displacement sensors provides a high-resolution distance signal that is directly calculated in the controller as a thickness measurement value. This method is used to check the thickness of the battery foil with micrometer precision. The measuring spot of the capacitive sensors is larger than with optical measuring methods, which means that structures and irregularities on the surface are averaged out.
