The re-election of the VCI President is planned for the 2024 Chemistry & Pharma Summit in Berlin. "I am delighted that Markus Steilemann wants to continue his voluntary commitment as the highest representative of our industry and is standing for re-election," says VCI Managing Director Wolfgang Große Entrup. Steilemann has been a member of the VCI Executive Board since March 2020. He has led the association as President since September 30, 2022. Previously, Steilemann held the office of Vice President. Große Entrup emphasizes the importance of Steilemann: "His voice as VCI President has been clearly heard in politics and business over the past two years. This was enormously important, especially in these challenging times in Germany as a business location."

Dr. Markus Steilemann (54) has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Covestro AG, based in Leverkusen, since June 2018. He began his career at the Bayer Group in 1999 and held various management positions at Bayer MaterialScience, Covestro's predecessor company, from 2008. In 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Management, where he held various positions. Steilemann studied chemistry and business administration at RWTH Aachen University, where he also completed his doctorate.
