Manz AG is in insolvency proceedings. The lack of demand for components for electromobility meant that investments could not be recovered.

Manz develops production solutions for lithium-ion batteries and electronic components and devices. The company filed for insolvency in December 2024.

Investing in electromobility

In recent years, the company had invested heavily in expanding capacities and technologies, particularly for battery cell production, in light of the original market expectations for electromobility. However, the anticipated market potential did not materialize as expected, and the European market for battery cells collapsed dramatically. Manz's high investments could not be compensated for by corresponding revenues.

Disposals are being examined

A restructuring of the company and disposals are now being examined in a structured process. In the meantime, business operations will continue and the shares will be traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange until further notice. However, in accordance with the provisions of the Exchange Rules of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, it is to be expected that Deutsche Börse AG will revoke the admission of Manz shares to the sub-segment of the regulated market with additional post-admission obligations (Prime Standard).

Change to the General Standard

This means a change of segment to the General Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, which reduces the costs and effort of follow-up obligations for Manz AG. In particular, the quarterly statements and the obligation to publish in English will no longer apply. The admission of Manz shares to trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange is not affected by this step and currently remains in place.

Experienced insolvency administrator

Martin Mucha from the law firm Grub Brugger has been appointed as insolvency administrator. According to Mucha, the circle of interested investors is to be enlarged through a broad-based sales process, so that ideally the sale can be concluded to one or more suitable investors in the course of the spring. Manz currently employs around 1,200 people, 400 of whom are based in Germany. Revenue of around 170 to 180 million euros is planned for the current fiscal year.
