Handles, housing parts, covers, intake manifolds or lids made of plastic are often produced by injection molding. In this process, the formation of sharp-edged burrs cannot always be prevented, and their removal is a challenge. Infrared emitters made of quartz glass can be shaped to follow the course of edges or burrs and thus melt off exactly only the burr without damaging the actual workpiece. This makes them superior to many conventional methods, such as manual removal, which does not produce uniform results and costs time.
Infrared modules are compact and can be easily integrated into existing equipment. Infrared emitters are precisely matched to the production step and heat large surfaces as well as narrow edges. They can be switched on or off in seconds, which saves energy and costs. Plastic parts are deburred, welded or riveted particularly efficiently within just a few seconds because heat is applied for a limited time and only in exactly the right place. This makes efficient use of energy, saves time and ultimately reduces production costs.
