IBU working group: Finding, retaining and inspiring employees

For three out of four industrial companies, the shortage of skilled workers is problem number one. In the new Personnel Working Group of the Sheet Metal Forming Industry Association (IBU), members are developing solutions.

The first question on the agenda was how to make the accumulated knowledge of managers available to successors. IBU Managing Director Bernhard Jacobs sees significant potential for improvement in the transition between generations, especially in the area of knowledge transfer: "This is where companies can save a lot of money and keep know-how in the company."

"The IBU supports its members in developing tools to promote and retain skilled workers - the establishment of the Personnel Working Group is another building block," says Jacobs. "Collaboration is also possible in the competition for personnel." The working group plans to meet twice a year in the future, alternating between analog and digital. It will initially focus on employee retention through employee satisfaction, the use of skilled workers from abroad and flexible working time models.
