Wherever parts move, friction occurs and energy is lost. Bonded coatings not only reduce friction, they also protect against wear and corrosion. At the same time, ever stricter legal guidelines are increasing the requirements for approved lubricants and demanding new technical solutions from manufacturers. Conventional, mineral-oil-based lubricants are thus coming under increasing scrutiny, and so are their users. This is because the greatest potential for improving the CO2 footprint lies in so-called Scope 3 emissions, i.e. emissions in the upstream and downstream process chain. Water-based sustainability. Here, modern, water-based bonded coatings offer interesting alternatives. They do not contain any mineral oil components, enable lifetime lubrication with constant coefficients of friction, offer corrosion protection, do not lead to contamination and have a wide thermal application range.
