Adhesive manufacturer Weicon has developed a flame-retardant epoxy resin systemthat is suitable for use in extreme conditions - Weicon Fire Safe. It is a white, flame-retardant, trowelable 2-component adhesive. It is suitable for fire protection applications and is used to attach wear-resistant ceramics or steel parts to a wide variety of substrates, such as metal or concrete.
Self-extinguishing in just a few seconds
The adhesive system has a very strong bond, is hard-flexible after curing and has been modified to be impact-resistant. The adhesive does not become brittle even under the most extreme conditions. It exhibits good wear protection properties in the event of particle erosion, has good chemical resistance and is solvent-free. Weicon Fire Safe contains additives that self-extinguish within a few seconds. It complies with DIN EN ISO 340 and can be used in many areas of application, for example for fixing fire barriers and covers or components with fire resistance requirements.
Through metallic powder to the plastic-steel system
Plastic-steel refers to epoxy resin systems that consist of two components, a resin and a hardener. Depending on the type, steel or aluminum powder or mineral fillers are added to this resin component, which improves the technical properties, such as compressive strength and thermal conductivity.
