Evonik's Coating Additives business division has developed a sustainability approach that goes beyond its own additives and instead focuses on the formulation and the end product itself. Under the title "Sustainability goes deeper than the surface," the business division minimizes its own environmental footprint while maximizing the handprint of the finished coating.
Evonik Coating Additives bundles its new sustainability approach in seven so-called handprints-from production and end use to disposal or recycling. The sustainability measures are aimed firstly at the formulation and application of coatings and printing inks. The targeted effects are "Safe Use," "Production Efficiency," "VOC Reduction" and "Sustainable Feedstock. Measures under the headings "Durability" and "Labels/Compliance" are highly relevant in the end use of coated articles, as only a durable coating reduces or avoids maintenance intervals or renewals. The seventh and final Handprint, "Circular Solutions," focuses on the end of life of coated and printed articles in the form of circular solutions for inks, coatings and printing inks.
