As part of the upgrade of its 5-color gravure printing press, a leading global printing company has opted for a drying solution from Adphos. The company specializes in the production of decors and packaging. The previous fossil fuel-powered convection drying system is now being replaced by the all-electric aNIR drying solution.
Advantages of the new solution
Before awarding the contract, the printing company tested and compared various drying solutions, including systems using IR short and medium wave radiation. The aNIR drying solution stood out due to several advantages. Thanks to higher efficiency and the instant on/off capability of the adphos aNIR system, it offers energy savings of over 55 percent compared to conventional IR systems. The compact dryer configuration contributes to a reduction in waste. In addition, the web circulation is reduced by more than 70 percent. The ability to make dynamic process parameter adjustments, including ramping the press speed up and down, improves color-to-color print registration and matching during the printing process.
