"In the coming years, the newly elected European Parliament must focus on making Europe a more attractive business location," demands Peter Adrian, President of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK). "Companies need good conditions in Europe in order to be internationally competitive."
According to Adrian's diagnosis, Europe must become more agile, faster and more digital. Above all, this means cutting costs, speeding up procedures and reducing bureaucracy. "We need more room for innovation and technical developments," emphasizes the DIHK President. "Only then can we exploit the great potential of the common European market. A policy that focuses on good location factors for the industries across the board is the best industrial policy - a global subsidy race, on the other hand, only ends up with losers."
The DIHK outlines the measures on which a successful EU industrial policy should be based in a current impulse paper, which is available on the DIHK website.
