Joke Technology has developed a carbide coating device for metal surfaces subject to particularly high stresses: With the ENESKArapidcoat control unit and the matching application handpiece, a heat-resistant tungsten carbide coating can be applied to tools, molds or mechanical components. The new ENESKArapidcoat was developed and manufactured in Germany.
Creates hard and wear-resistant surfaces
The ENESKArecoat 85 and ENESKArapidcoat devices both use a process in which surface hardnesses of up to 82 HR 30 N are achieved by applying a tungsten carbide electrode at 2,800° C - without any changes or distortion to the workpiece. This significantly increases the service life of the material. The process is suitable for any soft, tempered or hardened steel in alloyed or unalloyed versions and therefore for tools, stamping and bending tools, casting and forging molds and for surfaces that need to be particularly tough, hard and wear-resistant. Another possible application for both devices is roughening the surface to improve adhesion and holding properties, for example on grippers, gripper and clamping jaws. Coatings from 2 to a maximum of 9 μm can be achieved.
Processing regardless of shape and size
While ENESKArecoat 85 with its handpiece vibrating in linear movements is designed for fine, filigree work, the new development ENESKArapidcoat is suitable for fast coating of larger surfaces and tool sections. This is made possible by a special handpiece in which the carbide electrode made of tungsten carbide is set in a rotational movement. Depending on the substrate, the coating process can be repeated until the desired thickness of maximum 9 μm is reached. ENESKArapidcoat can also be operated with the vibrating handpiece for delicate work and partial surfaces. "Even with large surfaces, a very clean and homogeneous coating is achieved directly in just one work step," says Carsten Schütz, Sales Manager at Joke Technology.
Mobile use possible
The carbide coating device is operated using individually storable or pre-set working parameters: ignition frequency, speed and power can be set before coating. As soon as one parameter is changed, the other two are also adjusted automatically. Setting the working parameters ensures that the coating meets the user's expectations right from the start and does not have to be laboriously reworked because it has become too rough, for example. The parameter settings and intuitive operation also ensure that even beginners can quickly achieve the desired results with this new development.
Meets all European standards
"ENESKArapidcoat is comparatively compact. This means it can be easily transported to wherever it is needed," says Carsten Schütz. The device is air-cooled and gets warm but not hot during operation. ENESKArapidcoat complies with all European standards and safety regulations.
