With the "Carbon Footprint Award", CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council) recognizes BYK Shanghai's outstanding achievements in sustainability as well as the company's commitment to decarbonization. This is the first award of its kind received by BYK Shanghai for its sustainability results. Liang Ma, BYK Shanghai Operations Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the company in Chongqing in May.
The award was given for the 2,000 square meter solar plant at BYK Shanghai's integrated site. This installation is capable of providing approximately 400 MWh of electricity for on-site use, reducing carbon emissions by 200 tons per year. In addition, BYK Shanghai continues to steadily reduce energy consumption this year through the purchase of green electricity. This equates to a 75% reduction in overall CO2 emissions.
