The participants learned from the speaker from the Wehrwissenschaftliches Institut für Werk- und Betriebsstoffe (WIWeB) how intensively and with what time horizon the institute tests paint systems with a detailed catalog of requirements - right up to the resistance to explosive ordnance of the entire coating structure. This became clear in the second presentation. The highly weather-resistant Brillux Premium Polyester Powder 5936 has even been certified by the WIWeB with regard to its paint properties in accordance with RAL-F9 specifications. Thanks to the special formulation, surfaces can be achieved that are camouflaged even against infrared night vision devices. Powder coatings can be used with measurable ecological and economic benefits, the participants learned. Their use ensures short process throughput times, minimizes material consumption and leads to a permanent VOC reduction to zero. The overview of the procedure for BAFA export licenses was also valuable information, as powder coatings in F9 quality are classified as military equipment. Practical examples from coating companies that already process powder coating systems for military equipment of the German Armed Forces rounded off the lecture program.
