Thermal post-combustion systems, usually heated with gas, are currently the predominant technology on the market. Afotek now offers an alternative that requires hardly any energy to break down exhaust air containing pollutants such as solvents.
Aerobic microorganisms process pollutants
With the Afotek Clean, the pollutants bound in the air are broken down exclusively by biological oxidation. Two cylindrical reactor towers are installed in the exhaust air purification system, which are filled with a special carrier material. This is exposed to a humidifying agent enriched with nutrients. In this mixture, aerobic microorganisms biochemically convert the gaseous organic pollutants into the harmless components carbon dioxide and water.
Biological-chemical process
The purely biological-chemical process requires little external heat or heating energy, so that exhaust air flows contaminated with solvents can be cleaned cost-effectively without concentration. In addition, the heat from hot exhaust air streams can be recovered via appropriate systems and fed to other processes. Afotek will be providing information about this sustainable product at PaintExpo 2024.
