On the way to shot peening 4.0

Anzeige Mech. Bearbeiten T |

Shot peening is a special process with free-flying tools. The work of the blasting balls on the surface can therefore not be controlled as easily as in a machine tool. The digitization of process and quality parameters for the requirements of Industry 4.0 is correspondingly difficult.

For more than 150 years, engineers have been working on getting a grip on the effects of flying beam spheres on component surfaces. As everywhere else in industry, they are on the trail of processes that are as safe and reproducible as possible. The goal is to achieve reliable hardening and the introduction of residual compressive stresses that guarantee the component a longer service life even under dynamic loads. In order to reduce development time, optimize processes and save energy, the simulation of shot peening processes is a sustainable approach.
