Automation specialist Asis is expanding its measurement technology portfolio. It is presenting the robot-guided FPX - Fingerprint Expert measuring system for the automated inspection of painted bodies

With FPX - Fingerprint Expert, Asis GmbH presents a robot-guided measuring system for laboratory use. It enables the fully automated and objective evaluation of painted or foil-coated test specimens. The range is complemented by the Surface-Detect color measuring cells for end-of-line use in series production. Together, the two systems form an end-to-end solution for quality assurance in surface technology.

Robot supports measurement

The new FPX measuring table is primarily aimed at paint manufacturers, automotive OEMs and suppliers. Up to 25 test panels are automatically removed from a magazine, vacuum-fixed and measured at several positions using a robot. The measuring system records color tone, structure, layer thickness and cloudiness with high precision.

Robot changes handheld devices

Compact hand-held measuring devices are used, which are changed by the robot. Their device base is identical to the devices from the Surface Detect line for use in the production environment. This enables a high correlation of measurement results between the laboratory and production environment.

Surface-Detect in series production

Surface-Detect, on the other hand, specializes in automated testing of car bodies and add-on parts in the series production process. The systems usually work offline and deliver reproducible quality data directly on the component in the line. Thanks to the flexible selection of robot and sensor manufacturers, Asis offers system openness combined with a high degree of standardization of the measurement processes.
