The "CO2e Repair Calculator" has won an award in the chemical industry's Responsible Care competition. It enables auto repair shops to keep track of their CO2 emissions in painting and drying.

As part of the Resposible Care competition, AkzoNobel received the special digitalization award for its industry innovation "CO2e Repair Calculator, which is a digital consulting tool for car repair shops. They can use it to determine and document how much CO2 they emit during painting and drying. The program shows ways in which CO2 emissions and energy costs can be reduced by replacing paint products. This look at the entire value chain is unprecedented in the coatings industry.

"Our science-based sustainability goal as a company is to halve our carbon emissions across the entire value chain by 2030. Achieving this goal is highly dependent on working with partners - and the consulting tool is one element on this journey," says Jörg Anders, Regional Sales Manager for DACH, Nordics, UK&I at Akzonobel Coatings GmbH. Using the tool, emissions and energy consumption are calculated based on a two-part repair in a spray booth according to Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards. The results are presented in an online dashboard that can be used to take into account local energy prices and also electricity mixes.
