ABB has acquired the Dutch company Sensorfact BV, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands - an emerging player in energy management. The acquisition expands ABB's offering in digital energy management.

Sensorfact was founded in 2017 and offers a scalable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. This solution comprises plug-and-play sensors that measure energy consumption at machine level and are connected to an intelligent software platform. Advanced algorithms analyze the data, identify potential energy savings and make recommendations for the user's operating processes.

Leading the way in energy efficiency

"ABB and Sensorfact share the goal of helping companies maximize their energy efficiency while minimizing maintenance costs and downtime. With this acquisition, we are expanding our portfolio of energy management solutions that are made smarter and more efficient through big data and AI," says Massimiliano Cifalitti, Head of ABB's Smart Power division. "With ABB, we can grow globally and help customers worldwide to significantly reduce costs and CO2 emissions," says Pieter Broekema, CEO of Sensorfact.
