Lahntechnik: Correct cooling makes you more productive

Abstract

Workpiece cooling systems are used where fast and precise cooling of workpieces and products is required. Here, productivity can be increased and energy saved through precise temperature control.

Instead of long cooling zones in the production line, targeted cooling: precise temperature control of workpieces can represent a significantly better compromise between productivity and sustainability. Workpiece cooling systems are used, for example, to cool stators and rotors, for example after heating the laminations of a rotor, which is followed by the joining process of the shaft. The workpieces must be cooled from 200° to below 40°. The trick here is that the workpieces must not cool down too quickly, otherwise cracks will form in the resin. However, the warm workpiece should still be quickly and effectively fed to a further processing stage. With the steadily growing production numbers of electric vehicles, the need for this form of cooling technology is growing noticeably.
Depending on the availability of the cooling media, there are different system variants. The cold air generated can be circulated within the cooling tunnel and cools the workpieces to the desired temperature level. The waste heat from the cooling process is transferred directly to the customer's cold water via a cold water heat exchanger. No additional refrigerating machine is required for this. Alternatively, an integrated refrigeration circuit provides the necessary heat dissipation. By evaporating the refrigerant, heat is extracted from the cooling air flow and indirectly from the workpieces. The heat energy absorbed from the process can be discharged to a cooling water network or to the hall air.
