Vehicle painting - as flexible as printing
Neue Applikationstechnik verspricht wirtschaftliche Erfüllung auch individuellster Kundenwünsche
Without the need to mask or unmask the body, new painting technology allows individual paint jobs to be completed in a single pass. This can reduce turnaround times by 50 percent.
Demand for customized and individual paint finishes is growing - whether it's a desire for a second color, a different paint finish, such as matte, or a special design. However, it is not only in response to personal customer requests that the popularity of multicolor paint finishes on motor vehicles is increasing. Contrast paints are also used to emphasize or soften aspects of the vehicle design. Until now, a two-color paint finish has usually required a double pass through the painting process. This costs considerable capacity in the paint shop. An alternative would be to build another paint line for this - a very cost-intensive decision. Taking into account that a paint shop accounts for the largest share of the total energy consumption of an automotive plant, multicolor painting is not exactly conducive to reducing the ecological footprint.
