Meeh: Coating in Hanseatic style

Abstract

A young entrepreneur is building a new site with a highly flexible powder coating system for his company in Ticino. The site still has reserves of 6,000 square metres. The coating system takes up around 1,000 square metres. The company is already working in two shifts.

The Hanseatische Metallveredlung (Hanse MV for short) chooses a location in Ticino for the expansion of its plant. It quickly became clear that it was also time for a new system at the new site, both for capacity reasons and because of energy efficiency issues. Due to the positive experience with the supplier Meeh and its jumbo coating system, the Managing Director of Hanse MV Melman once again opted for the system manufacturer Meeh. Meeh received the order for the semi-automatic powder system at the beginning of July 2022. The system planning was complicated as the plant was located in a drinking water catchment area.

Twelve weeks were planned for the construction time, ten were actually needed - despite the complicated initial situation. For water protection reasons, the pre-treatment chemicals in the new system are now located in a 21 square metre stainless steel tank. The underground, double-walled pipework with chemically resistant hoses was reinforced once again with an outlet sensor for moisture. The various process steps such as degreasing/phosphatising, 2 x circulation rinsing, demineralised water rinsing and no-rinse passivation are possible in just one cabin. Thanks to a two-week parallel operation, it was possible to keep delivery delays and other inconveniences away from the customers.
