Emil Frei: Ultra-high-solid paint for agricultural machinery

Agricultural machinery manufacturer Horsch relies on a new UHC system coating and achieves a significantly improved high-gloss finish. At the same time, fewer VOCs are emitted. The shorter drying times, which create additional capacity, are also an advantage.

Agricultural machinery is an investment-intensive machine that is attached to a tractor and is therefore exposed to harsh operating conditions. Nevertheless, the demands on the long-term appearance of the coating are also increasing here. Horsch is one of the few suppliers of high-gloss surfaces in the agricultural machinery sector. The company wants to meet the increased demands on the surface appearance of agricultural machinery. The manufacturer wanted to increase spray mist absorption and sustainably reduce VOC emissions.

Horsch decided to switch to the FreiLacke system UR1937HRU735 in combination with UR1409GH3307. For the agricultural machinery manufacturer, FreiLacke improved the flow behaviour and successfully reduced the solvent emissions of these paints. The optimised paint structure is ideally suited for industrial goods and construction machinery of all kinds. Both components, i.e. primer and topcoat, contain solvents and are based on polyurethane / isocyanate-crosslinking polyacrylate resin as a binder. The top coat is available in "high gloss" quality. In addition to the required high corrosion protection, the solvent-based primer offers good adhesion to various substrates.
