Active, individual support instead of waiting

Abstract

The shortage of skilled workers and specialists will continue to increase. What can companies do to get young people excited about a profession, their own company and higher qualifications? We spoke to two students who were awarded for their achievements.

Exclusively in mo Oberfläche, two students report on their experiences during their training and studies in the field of paint and lacquer. Both received an award for their outstanding performance in the chemistry course at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. Both complain that the technical content and career opportunities in the field of paint and varnish are hardly known. Here, the companies should be much more committed and present the job prospects and career opportunities in more detail. This is the only way to counter the shortage of skilled workers and to inspire those interested in a career in the paint and varnish industry. According to the two students, this field is very exciting and the job opportunities are attractive.

According to Holz, dual training would be recommendable - for employers and trainees: "First of all, you save almost completely on the familiarisation phase, because whoever starts somewhere new is busy with the basics and internal processes for at least half a year. During this time, two employees do the job of one," Lukas Holz reports. Both students prefer the engineering course because it is clearly more practice-oriented compared to a pure chemistry course. The study content is packaged in a more interesting way. Interfacial phenomena, for example, are part of physical chemistry. In the Esslingen programme, the subject is taught in an application-oriented way. That makes it more tangible.
