High corrosion protection, improved depth scattering, optimized friction behavior - a leading specialty chemicals manufacturer is presenting new solutions at the trade show. Of particular interest are the improved processes for corrosion protection and TriChrom deco coatings.

At this year's SurfaceTechnology, specialty chemicals manufacturer Atotech will once again showcase various innovations in the field of surface finishing. Atotech's solutions are used in end markets such as smartphones and other consumer electronics, communications infrastructure and computing, and other industrial and consumer applications. Atotech is participating in the SurfaceTechnology Germany trade show for the second time this year. The company is a co-exhibitor in Hall 1 at the "World of Surfaces," the joint booth of the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO). "We look forward to discussing the latest market trends on surface treatments with trade show participants," says Hartmut Rapp, business director at Atotech.

For each step within the entire application spectrum of decorative and functional surface finishing - from pretreatment to final sealing - the specialty chemicals manufacturer has solutions such as decorative coatings, anti-corrosion coatings, wear-resistant coatings and processes for the paint industry.

For example, one of the processes presented at the show is an acid zinc-nickel technology for corrosion protection. The Zinni 220 acid zinc-nickel process combines high corrosion protection with improved layer and metal distribution and depth scattering. Zinni 220 enables higher coating thicknesses at lower current densities and improved nickel installation rates of twelve to 15 percent compared to standard zinc-nickel processes. Depending on requirements, it is possible to set Zinni 220 as a bright, semi-bright or matte surface.

The Zintek 200 + Zintek Top LV coating system is a process combination suitable for various OEM specifications in the automotive industry. The zinc flake coating system meets the complex friction coefficient requirements for multiple assembly as well as heat release behavior, even under different environmental conditions.

REACh-compliant decorative coatings

In addition to zinc-nickel technologies, Atotech has launched REACh-compliant solutions for decorative plating. The Cr(VI)- and PFAS-free processes are used for pretreatment of plastics and decorative chrome plating of surfaces. Covertron 600, Atotech's Cr(VI)-free plastic pretreatment process delivers equivalent performance and quality to conventional Cr(VI) processes.

TriChrome, Atotech's trivalent chromium processes for decorative applications, are a sustainable alternative to hexavalent chromium coating processes. TriChrome is suitable for metal-based applications, plastic coatings as well as for the realization of nickel-free interlayers. The product selection covers the entire color range - from glossy to transparent to dark shades - thus enabling a wide variety of design options. With good alloying properties, TriChrome processes are said to offer a wide range of design possibilities with high corrosion resistance.
