Manufacturers of medical technology must meet strict requirements. A cooperation between Ecoclean and VC999 Medical aims to make the packaging of medical technology products even safer.

Medical device manufacturers worldwide must meet increasingly stringent FDA and MDR regulatory requirements. Final cleaning and packaging are critical components of the product since the introduction of the MDR. To support companies here, SBS Ecoclean Group and global VC999 Medical have entered into a cooperation. Ecoclean supplies turnkey cleaning solutions for medical technology worldwide, while VC999 Medical is a business unit of VC999 Verpackungssysteme AG specializing in packaging machines and pre-validated materials. The cooperation enables the planning and worldwide delivery of complete turnkey solutions for cleaning and sterile packaging, including packaging validation, from a single source.

The cooperation is primarily aimed at minimizing the time and financial effort required for certification and validation of cleaning and sterile packaging of medical devices. With the MDR- and GMP-compliant packaging systems of VC999 Medical, which include pre-validated packaging materials (PAPE, Tyvek and paper/film) depending on the application, Ecoclean complements its offering for medical technology. "VC999 Medical packaging machines and materials have been established in the market worldwide for decades and ideally complement our portfolio" says Fabio Cordaro, Global Business Development CLP, Ecoclean. As a result, he says, Ecoclean is able to plan and deliver complete turnkey solutions to manufacturers of medical technology products - from pre-cleaning and intermediate cleaning during production to final cleaning and insertion in the cleanroom, right through to sterile packaging.

Increased safety for professional cleaning

Family-owned VC999 Medical is represented in more than 70 countries worldwide. It is the only supplier in the world to have conducted its own packaging validation with a shelf life of ten years. This meets the latest regulatory requirements as well as the highest standards in terms of cleanroom suitability, process safety and traceability. "On the one hand, the fact that Ecoclean is also a global player in the medical technology market spoke in favor of the cooperation. On the other hand, we have thus brought a partner on board who covers the process immediately before packaging," says Jürgen Klein, responsible for product management at VC999 Medical. "We can thus offer customers fast and effective cleaning and packaging of their products, which contributes to more efficient production." Among the added values for customers resulting from the collaboration is zine increased safety for the processes of professional cleaning and sterile packaging, taking into account current legislation. And the effort required for certifications and validations is minimized, so that they can be implemented quickly. In addition, the solutions can be easily adapted for production sites in different countries. The cooperation partners have set up a complete process chain at Ecoclean's Monschau site. There, the optimum process design and tuning can be determined in practical tests on original products and analyzed in laboratories.
