Trumpf celebrates the 50th anniversary of its laser technology site in Schramberg. Today, more than 1400 employees produce and service laser technology in the Black Forest that is used all over the world. This is Trumpf's second largest site in Germany. Site Managing Director Hagen Zimer says, "Schramberg is the nucleus of industrial solid-state laser technology in Germany. We started with the processing of spiral springs for the watch industry and today supply state-of-the-art laser technology for electromobility, display production or even smartphones all over the world."
The so-called ultra-short pulse laser technology was developed in Schramberg. This technology can be used, for example, to efficiently process hard materials such as glass or sapphire, but also solar cells. For the industrialization of ultrashort pulse laser technology, Trumpf received the German Future Prize in 2013 together with representatives of the Bosch technology group and the University of Jena.
