Tribology is a cross-sectional technology whose economic significance is growing rapidly. At the same time, sustainability is one of the goals for today's society and the future. Systems last longer and function better if their components are reliably protected by wear protection. At the same time, when systems function longer, there is less demand for materials, energy and labor. This also increases the service life of products, because there is less wear - resource efficiency increases.
The ways in which tribology can contribute to greater sustainability will be the subject of the workshop "Sustainability through tribological coatings" organized by the EFDS Europäische Forschungsgesellschaft Dünne Schichten e.V. The event will be held at Karlsruhe on May 17 and 18, 2022 - probably in attendance.
