PCAP applications have to withstand high stresses in outdoor use because they are exposed to temperature fluctuations and the vagaries of the weather on a daily basis. UV radiation is a particularly high stress when the touch panels are directly exposed to sunlight. Special glass that blocks UV wavelengths of less than 300 nm and other UV filters protect outdoor touch panels from defects. A weathering test shows how long the touch panels can withstand weather influences without damage.
Comprehensive corrosion protection and special materials that can withstand temperatures from -40 to + 85 degrees Celsius are also part of high-quality PCAP touch panels. The controllers and sensors are also adapted to these operating temperatures. The PCAP system is enabled by special algorithms in the firmware of the controller used to automatically compensate for strong temperature changes in the environment. Schurter offers high-quality input systems that are adapted to the specific application in cooperation with the customer.
