Panacol presents UV moisture-curing medical adhesive

The new adhesive system is certified for use in medical technology. In addition to UV curing, it offers secondary moisture post-curing so that components in medical devices can be cured without thermal influence and in a process-safe manner.

Plastic bonding on PCBs and FPCBs in medical applications is tricky: not every plastic is transparent, which makes process-safe curing of UV adhesives difficult. Here, thermal post-curing is usually necessary, but electronics and plastics have only limited thermal resistance. As a result, heat curing is often not an option. Panacol now offers a thermally resilient adhesive solution: Vitralit UD 8050 MV F can be primarily cured in seconds with UV or LED UV light. Secondary curing in shaded areas takes place through moisture post-curing of the isocyanate groups.

Unlike other humidity post-curing adhesives, Vitralit UD 8050 MV F can be processed reliably because its primary cure is based on UV crosslinking and the humidity in the air does not cause it to cure while still in the dispensing needle. This offers the user a wide process window. In addition, there are no efflorescence effects on the plastics, as is the case with cyanoacrylates.
