Surface specialist Hesse Lignal has achieved an important sub-goal of its sustainability strategy by exiting the nitrocellulose lacquer market. "Our transformation process is progressing as planned," says J. Hesse, Managing Director. In recent months, the Hammer-based company has switched its customers to more sustainable products and discontinued the production of non-sustainable nitrocellulose lacquers and solvent-based acid-curing lacquers on January 1, 2024.
Solvent-based additives, dyes, pigment concentrates and associated thinners will also no longer be offered. Water-based products, lacquers made from sustainable raw materials, UV lacquers and natural oils are now available as more sustainable alternatives.
