After more than a year of revision, the guideline "Emission reduction; powder coating" has now been published. This looks at measures to reduce emissions in powder coating by increasing energy efficiency and saving resources. It contains information on the production and composition of powder coatings as well as on the structure of the coating for the pre-treatment of surfaces, on application methods for powder coatings, on curing processes and on plant technology.
Reference is made to the laws, ordinances, administrative and other regulations applicable to the construction and operation of powder coating systems. The draft of the guideline VDI 3457 "Emission reduction, powder coating" is available at www.vdi.de/3457. The chairman of the committee, Mr. Ulrich Siemers (siemers@rippert.de), will provide information on the changes resulting from the new guideline for coaters and tips on how emissions can be reduced.
