After studying organic chemistry at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, Germany; Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland; and Ohio State University, USA, she received her doctorate from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, in 1996.Holzenkamp began working at BASF in 1997 in the pharmaceutical research department. After holding further positions in Germany and abroad, she became senior vice president of the global Fuel and Lubricant Solutions business unit, which is part of BASF's Performance Chemicals division, in April 2018.
Her predecessor Dirk Bremm, who had led the Coatings division since April 2017, has taken over as CEO of the new unit for exhaust catalysts as well as precious metal services. The independent legal unit BASF Automotive Catalysts and Recycling is headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey, USA.
