With immediate effect, all full-time employees of the Krüss family business at its headquarters in Hamburg can reduce their working hours to 36 hours and work 4 days a week - while being fully payed.

Krüss has expanded its package of employee benefits to include a reduced workweek with the same salary, creating the opportunity to shorten the workweek to four days. This innovation is also intended to help recruit new employees and thus remain competitive.

Since July 1, employees have been able to enjoy the reduced working hours. The 36 hours can be worked over four or five days. If they choose the 4-day week, employees gain an additional 46 days off per year. New employees are only offered employment contracts with a maximum of 36 hours per week. The 4-day week has been discussed by politicians and the media for some time as an alternative working time model to the classic 40-hour week. Productivity does not seem to suffer from the reduced working hours - according to a study by the University of Cambridge, the total turnover of the companies involved in the social experiment even increased slightly by 1.4 percent.
