Jentner develops process for the recovery of rhodium

With the new process from Jentner Plating Technology, rhodium can be recovered from used electrolytes. This saves resources and protects the environment.

The latest product from Jentner Plating Technology GmbH, a manufacturer of electroplating electrolytes and small electroplating equipment, is Rhodium CLEAN, an electrolyte containing recycled rhodium from used baths. The process used here was developed in-house. The result is reusable electrolytes of the same quality as new products.

The process in detail: First, the used bath is analyzed for its content of rhodium and foreign metals, after which an individual procedure for the chemical process is determined. Depending on the results of the analysis, the rhodium content and foreign metals may first be separated or a new electrolyte may be produced directly. In both cases, the rhodium is returned to the recyclable material flow free of any base metals.
