The Dürr Group and its subsidiaries BBS Automation and Teamtechnik can jointly realize complete lines for the assembly and testing of state-of-the-art electric motors. The order value of such projects reaches into the mid double-digit million range. Under the Dürr umbrella, the two companies form the new Production Automation Systems business unit with 2,500 employees. "Our aim was to form a high-performance competence center for industrial automation," says Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, CEO of Dürr AG.
Production lines for electric motors
The largest business area in automation technology is production lines for motors in electric cars. Until now, it was mainly suppliers who were active in this area. Now car manufacturers themselves are increasingly getting involved, as they see the electric motor as a differentiating feature of their products.
Spectrum of the new business unit
BBS Automation's range for the e-mobility sector includes, for example, assembly systems for stators, rotors, inverters and the motor itself. Team-technik offers testing systems with which such components and the complete e-drive train are tested after assembly. Group subsidiary Schenck RoTec contributes balancing systems for e-motor components.
Hairpin technology systems
The new business unit also developshairpin technology systems. BBS Automation has supported hairpin technology with systems for production right from the start. Hairpin technology can replace the previous winding process. It is now used in most electric cars. The marketing potential for BBS Automation's fully automated production technology is correspondingly high.
