Business performance at thyssenkrupp still robust

Despite challenging market conditions, thyssenkrupp's positive performance continues almost unabated in the 3rd quarter. The company made further progress in its transformation with the stock market listing of the hydrogen subsidiary nucera.

In a challenging environment thyssenkrupp continued its performance in the 3rd quarter of fiscal 2022/2023 with minor losses. Order intake was €9.4 billion (prior year: €9.9 billion) and sales €9.6 billion lower than a year earlier (prior year: €11.0 billion). This was mainly due to the normalization of prices at Materials Services. In addition, lower spot market prices also led to a decline in sales at Steel Europe. The Group achieved adjusted EBIT of €243 million, lower than a year earlier (€721 million). Here, too, the main reasons were lower prices and associated lower margins at Materials Services and lower revenues at Steel Europe.

"The transformation of the company is making significant progress: We successfully floated our hydrogen subsidiary on the stock market in a challenging capital market environment," says Miguel López, Executive Board Chairman of thyssenkrupp AG. He added that Steel Europe had also received funding from the federal and state governments, which was a further milestone in the green transformation of the steel business.
