The automotive supplier BIA is giving up its Forst site. This was announced by managing partner Jörg Püttbach to the 150 employees at a staff meeting. The reason for this was high losses.

BIA Forst GmbH is an independent company of the BIA Group in Forst near Bruchsal. The automotive supplier produces high-quality plastic parts with galvanized surfaces, something for chrome trim strips. The company has been facing a situation of steadily falling demand for many years. In 2020, one million euros was invested in the sustainable conversion of the electroplating line. The company intended to use this to take orders from struggling competitor companies as part of the necessary consolidation of electroplating capacities in the global market environment. However, the market did not offer any new orders for the site.

All of the company's approximately 150 jobs would be eliminated as part of the planned plant shutdown. In the coming weeks, management will begin negotiations with employee representatives. The aim is to make the closure of the company as socially acceptable as possible.
